Adam Clark Vroman : Platinum Prints, 1895 - 1904.

Vroman spent the better part of eight summers photographing among the Indians of the Southwest. Here are some of his best photos of that time, they are not ethnographic documents, nor a sentimentalized vision of Native Americans. Vroman has a sure-handed and sensitive approach to the people, sites, surroundings, and religious ceremonies, uncharacteristic of the age. This book contains 47 platinum plates, as well as essays by Jennifer Watts, and Andrew Smith; as well as travel diaries by Vroman himself.
