KALEIDOSCOPE: LENSES ON REALITY (CHRYSALIS READERS)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As we step before the mirror, we reflect upon our own appearance, and how we mirror others. Do we live up to our own expectations? Do we reflect our parents’ qualities? Do our children reflect ours? The more that we are with other people, do we become like them?

 

We all see things differently, so much so that communication, community, and society may be minor miracles. Do others see us the way we see ourselves? How do our opinions color our reactions? How much do we read into what we see?

 

The sixteenth installment of our annual anthology, the Chrysalis Reader, focuses on perception, both physical and spiritual. Writers from all walks of life share their poetry, short fiction, and essays on how life’s twists and turns affect how we see ourselves, each other, and the world. These varied insights combine to form their own lens on reality, allowing the reader to see the world through other people’s eyes.
