The Recent Study of Hebrew: A Survey of the Literature With Selected Bibliography

Professor Waldman surveys the work of ca. 1,300 authors and more than 3,500 publications dealing with the study of the Hebrew language since the 1930s. The book has two sections. The first part annotates the various contributions to the study of Hebrew in five sections--Biblical Hebrew, the period of the Second Commonwealth and Rabbinic Hebrew, the Masoretic era, Medieval Hebrew, and Modern and Contemporary Hebrew. The second part is a bibliography of the contributions surveyed in the first part. An index of all authors cited in the survey is included. A must for the library of every institution at which Hebrew is studied.
