Asian Cooking Recipes from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In tribute to the Asiatic department on the occasion of its centennial, I am pleased to introduce a Cookbook, coordinated by the Museum Overseer, Mrs. John B. Sears with the assistance of several staff memebers. This publication, the fouth cookbook published by the Museum of Fine Arts, is the first of the series to introduce the art of Asian Cooking. To appreciate the Museum's well-know Asian masterpieces, it is helpful to understand the importance of food in Eastern culture. Many works of art - such as ritual bronzes, ceramics and lacquers - were used in religious and secular ceremonies that included feating: paintings and other objects often decorated the rooms and gardens in which these feasts were conducted. Illustrated exclusively with works from the Museum's permanent collection, this unique cookbook presents viewers with numerous opportunities to delight their palates and feast their eyes.
