Inelasticity and Damage in Solids Subject to Microstructural Change

The Lazar M. Kachanov Symposium on Inelasticity and Damage in Solids Subject to Microstructural Change was held in September 1996 in historic St. Johns, the capital of the province of Newfoundland, Canada. This Symposium was organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland, in recognition of the late Professor Lazar M. Kachanov (1914-1993) to the development of the field of damage mechanics. Over forty participants from around the world assembled both to honor the accomplishments of Professor Kachanov and to consider the latest developments in this important field. This volume represents the contributions of these researchers and their colleagues to the study of inelasticity and damage in solids.
