Mutter Museum 2012 Calendar

With an annual visitorship exceeding 100,000, the Mütter Museum has become America's most popular medical museum. Featured on the Discovery channel and The Late Show with David Letterman, the Mütter Museum's collection originated more than 150 years ago with Dr. Thomas Dent Mütter, a 19th-century Philadelphia surgeon who collected unique anatomic and pathological materials for his personal teaching "museum": bones; air-dried, varnished anatomic specimens; plaster casts; fluid-preserved specimens; wax and papier-mâché models; and oil and watercolor paintings. The collection grew to include such oddities as the death cast and connected livers of the legendary Siamese twins Chang and Eng, the skeleton of a 7' 6" giant, and Dr. Chevalier Jackson's collection of more than 2,000 swallowed objects removed from the throats and airways of his patients.
