Excavations that begain in 1981 in Gritille, Turkey, were in search of Bronze and Iron Age material but, instead, archaeologists discovered important evidence for the medieval boundary between Islam and Christianity. Eight articles report on the history of the area in medieval and modern times, the excavations themselves, ceramic, coins and other finds.
