Ukulele: A Comprehensive Approach

A course designed to develop musical understanding and performance skills. Detailed lesson plans with simple, interesting activities teach students to read notation and pick melody lines, pick and strum accompaniment patterns, and play the ukulele both as an ensemble instrument and as a solo instrument. The musical concepts of tone, melody, rhythm, harmony, texture, tonality, and form are presented in activities that include playing, listening, singing, improvising, composing, arranging, and analyzing. Repertoire includes pop, folk, and classical selections.
