Neo-Orthodoxy: An Evangelical Evaluation of Barthianism

Exactly what is neo-orthodoxy and how does it affect those who subscribe to its strange and often hard-to-understand tenets? It is merely a question for theological debate or does it reach the level of the man in the pew? How can it be recognized? Should we be grateful to Barthianism for delivering the church from the curse of the old liberalism or is neo-or¬thodoxy part of the increasing spirit of Anti¬christ in Christendom? Barthianism with its call to the Word of God has excited a lot of preachers and theologians...the call is to the faith of the Word and not to the facts of the Bible which are actually, to Barthianism, of secon¬dary importance. And yet the difficulty is that too few conservative pastors and laymen have been able to study something concise, non-¬technical, but accurate on this subject. Barthianism, we recognize, was a term de¬plored by Barth himself, but it has come to stand for a theological viewpoint in which Barth was one of the leading voices.
