On April 3, 1928, Rosenbach Museum cofounder Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach purchased at auction the original manuscript to Alice s Adventures in Wonderland (known as Alice s Adventures under Ground ). This purchase stunned Britain & earned him the moniker The Man Who Bought Alice in America. The Rosenbach Museum & Library today preserves one of the world s finest Lewis Carroll collections: over 500 letters in Charles Dodgson s hand, nearly 3 dozen original drawings by Sir John Tenniel, rare & often inscribed copies of his books, photos, & much more.
