The First Saratoga: Being the Saga of John Young and his Sloop-of-War

During the American Revolution, the Saratoga played a significant role in stemming the flow of supplies to British forces. Sailing out of Delaware River ports on her three cruises, she engaged heavily armed British vessels in spectacularly successful encounters, capturing 12 prizes. In 1781, during a West Indian storm, she disappeared with all hands.
