This reprint of the classic work first published in 1973 is largely based upon interviews with Yogi Ramaiah, a direct disciple of Babaji. It was the first academic study of the culture of the 18 Siddhas of South India and presents many fascinating details which will be of great interest to the student of Babaji's Kriya Yoga.

The Siddhas or "Accomplished Ones" were masters of yoga, spiritual heroes, miracle workers and ministrels in ancient times. Their poetry refflects their deep spiritual yearning, insight and experience. It also reveals that they were outspoken critics of conventional religion and morality.
