Inland Architecture: Subterranean Essays on Moral Order and Formal Order in Chicago

This collection of nineteen essays by architect and critic Philip Bess range in topics from essays on the city and its public buildings, to ones on baseball fields and architectural theory and education. Most of the essays first appeared in the earlier journal Inland Architect, including those part of the Police Patrol column that Mr. Bess cowrote with Howard Decker; others are published for the first time in this collection.
