Makin' It: The Hip-Hop Guide to True Survival

National youth advocate and speaker Edward DeJesus releases Makin’ It – The Hip-Hop Guide to True Survival, a book focused on helping the hip-hop generation combat the negative information and mind-set that hip-hop is often said to perpetuate. DeJesus states, "Instead of glorifying the 'hood lifestyle, Makin’ It says what happens when you live that lifestyle. It provides good information that will help young adults complete their education, stay out of trouble and earn a decent living."

As the basis for most of DeJesus’ presentations, "Makin’ It" focuses on revealing, in a clear and compelling way, what young adults need to do in order to ensure long term labor market success. "Makin’ It" uses the voice and power of hip-hop to inspire and support youth along with concrete facts and intelligent analysis about the importance of education, work and non-violence.
