Mapping Tomorrow's Planet: Ecological Reverence in the Global Village

Using "mapping" as a metaphor for interpreting the signs of the times, this book uses science, history, philosophy, and theology to seek a religious interpretation of life, without dogma or arrogance. Chapter One focuses on the emerging global village as the distinctive event on our planet as we enter a new millenium. Chapter Two attempts to deal with facts to the contrary - ethnic and national idolatry, tyranny and chaos. Chapter Three centers upon the role of the individual in the larger scheme of things - human rights and responsibilities. Chapter Four is concerned with the role of nature - its management, mismanagement, and the legacy we will leave to our children. Chapter Five suggests the role of religion in a pluralistic world, the common concerns of religions in ecological reverence, and the role of religious communities to be the conscience of the culture, anticipating tomorrows planet.
