Book Details
Description
"Una semana en la vida de Juan Bobo" - "A Week in Juan Bobo's Life" (17:25) is a medley of short episodes in Juan Bobo's Life. Juan Bobo is the Latin American version of the "Jack" character, and his stories are heard throughout Latin America, especially in Puerto Rico. "La cucarachita Mandinga" - "Mandinga, the Little Roach" (10:26) is the version from Panam, "Gallo y su moneda" - "Rooster and His Coin" (6:49) comes from Guatemala, and "La pulga" - "The Flea" (17:25) comes from Spain. The last two stories are original stories written by Elida Bonet: "La papaya de T'a Leticia" - "Aunt Leticia's Papaya" (10:46) is about an incident that happened one summer in a small town in Panam, and "Under the Mango Tree" (7:10) is a story about the author's experiences growing up and how a place, a fruit, memories, and stories keep her connected to her roots. Bonet flows from English into Spanish sharing with her audience her love for her culture and her language. The music between the stories are Spanish children's songs performed in piano by Jaime Ingram and Nelly Ingram from Panam City, Panam.
