This book contains the diary of A. Crawford Gwin who wrote from January 1, 1862 to 1863 while stationed at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He was a member of the 76th Pennsylvania Zouave Regiment. This publication contains copies of the original diary, and details camp life, battles, and executions that took place in camp. Readers will take a step back in history and hear the voice of a young man who would fight and die, as did so many on both sides of this terrible struggle.
