Voices Behind The Bricks, second edition, is a collection of 10 first-person narratives told by veterans of different wars of the 20th century, each of whom owns a brick at Veterans Memorial Park, Lake Charles, Louisiana. The book includes stories about World War II, Korea, Vietnam and The Gulf War as well as a story conerning the origins of Veterans Memorial Park. Contributing to the oral and written stories and poems are Louisiana veterans: former Senator Jesse Knowles, USA, POW; Lt.Col. William F. Vaughan, USAF, (Ret.); Al Worley, USMC, (Ret.); Lt. Suzanne McCall, RN, USAF; Lt.Col. Keith DeSonier, MD, USAR; Al Harris, USMC; and Le Roy Raymond, USA. Nationally known veterans contributing stories include former Chief of Naval Operations, the late Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt, Jr., USN,(Ret.); and Vice Admiral William P. Lawrence, USN, (Ret.). The book also contains period photos, an introduction by the author and a foreword by Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt, Jr., USN, (Ret.).
