Les Fables des Fleurs

The book consists of twenty small stories about flowers, but the stories are also about feminine lives and their psychological experiences. The aim of the author is to elevate each flower's life to the status of a fable. Flowers can evoke an emotional response, and the author postulates that perhaps some flowers can experience an emotional condition. Flowers whose voices are heard include daisy, pansy, passionflower, lotus, orchid, frangipani, and star of bethlehem. The flowers speak in an idiosyncratic syntax that is charming.
