My Life While Growing Up

"My Life While Growing Up" is a story of a young girl's tempestuous journey through the vulnerable ages of sixteen to twenty-one. In language both frank and raw, this autobiographical novel tells of her abusive beginnings with her mother to the rapes and abortions she endured while out on her own.

Williams wastes no time in painting a graphic opening scene that sets the novel off on a roller coaster of characters, plot twists, and supercharged emotions: The book starts in the chaotic home of Gina and the heroine Nicole, who escapes via greyhound to the big city of Los Angeles, where she is raped on the first night there.

"My Life While Growing Up" talks of her time spent residing with hookers, to moving out on her own and into the arms of her live in boyfriend who ended up becoming her violent spouse. And her lessons learned while in the process of living her life.
