Description

ATTENTION: The version of the database program used to develop the Teton Rock Climbs CD-ROM is unsupported by the newest macintosh operation system (mountain lion). Please follow downloading instructions for all other operating systems (mac and windows) to ensure trouble-free viewing. Teton Rock Climbs is a digital CD-ROM guidebook to the Teton Range that will facilitate typically challenging approaches to routes, route finding and descents through detailed text accompanying abundant photography and unique topographic maps. This interactive guidebook of selected technical rock climbing routes provides climbing enthusiasts with a comprehensive multi-dimensional tool to foster a more intricate understanding than paper bound books can offer. Rock quality, aesthetics and unique features comprise the selection criteria for the 65 routes in the database. The routes are evenly distributed from sub-5th class scrambling through the difficulty ratings between 5.6 - 5.10, with a few 5.11 s. Several ways to search and sort routes from the route menu include: name, location, difficulty, aspect, trailhead, route base elevation and elevation gain. Upon selecting a route, an informational page appears containing detailed descriptive text accompanying up to 30 photographs of the approach, route and descent; several additional overview photos of the route; three viewing choices of topographic maps; trailhead information and gear considerations. The software provides fluent information retrieval through access to several related pages from each current page shown. Appearing immediately after accepting the disclaimer, the index page contains the forward and access to the route menu, as well as information about the Grand Teton National Park, camping, permits, map legends, route ratings, a bibliography and advertising. Printable route information includes text, route photographs and topographic maps. The text for each route photo is written to seamlessly stand-alone in paragraph form. Unique topographic route overlay maps layer topographic maps over opaque photographs of the route, highlighting crucial landmarks and adding realistic depth to the map.
