Dependence in Probability, Analysis and Number Theory

Most of the 21 papers in this volume were presented at the conference 'Dependence in Probability, Analysis and Number Theory' held in Graz in the summer of 2009. The volume is intended to honor the memory of Walter Philipp, a leading researcher in probability theory who died suddenly in 2006 while hiking in the Austrian Alps. The contributors are his former colleagues, coauthors, students and friends. The research topics addressed are very diverse, but all are linked in some way to Walter's work . Broadly speaking, this was in the area of limit theorems for weakly dependent stochastic processes and their applications to analysis and number theory.
