This is a fascinating, extensive oral history of the lives of forty women in one religious order, the Sisters of the Precious Blood of Dayton Ohio. The book carries these women for young adulthood, in the time of their early formation in religious community through the challenges of Vatican II. Each woman has her own questions about ministry, call and communal life. This intensive-extensive interviews are braided into a wonderful story of how one, and by implication, many groups, of sisters across the United States grew and matured into new vocational understandings. Dr Kittel brings beautifully to the page the women's discovery and embrace of their charism as new insights open to them. This is an excellent adventure story of how living religious communities continue to be ever new.
