Finer Women: The Birth of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, 1920-1935 traces the historical milestones and rapid growth of the 3rd historically black sorority founded at Howard University in 1920,  Zeta Phi Beta.  Additionally, Finer Women chronicles the accomplishments of 85 African-American women who achieved success during the '20s and '30s in spite of the overwhelming challenges of racism and sexism.

Finer Women is full of compelling biographies, and rare photographs.  Zeta Phi Beta members profiled include Annie Turnbo Malone, Maggie Lena Walker, Zora Neale Hurston, Alice Dugged Cary, Nettie Langston Napier, Violette Neatley Anderson, Sallie Wyatt Stewart, Julia West Hamilton, and Lillian Evans Tibbs (Madam Evanti).
