The city of Alexandria was established by Alexander the Great in April of 334 BCE. Alexander's vision was for a library that would house the great books and teaching of the world. The library flourished for the next thousand years. It was destroyed three times, and scholars have long dreamed of the riches this great library might have held. But was everything destroyed? Did a shrewd chief librarian have the foresight to prepare for such a catastrophe? What if the precious documents were not destroyed but in fact were saved and stored in a desert hideout, still waiting to be discovered?
