Book 1 takes the reader back to the 1960's in St. Johns, Oregon; Portland, Oregon's equivalent to the Bronx, New York. In this environment, Jim finds himself intertwined with the area toughs and uses unorthodox means to learn his skills. With a passion bordering on obsession he works toward his goals despite overwhelming odds.
