A Black Woman Speaks: Poems that challenge black men, the women that love them, the children they are responsible for.

Bernice Simpson-Pleasant writes from a heart that has felt pain, joy, sorrow and happiness. She uses her heartfelt experiences to challenge the entire Black family to be a better family. She calls out those Black men who have abandoned their God-given responsibilities and she calls out the Black women that often serve as their enablers. But Bernice also uses her poetry to honor the Black men and women that have weathered the storms of life and sacrificed for the sake of their children and their communities.
