Cooka: The Bird Without Wings is a wonderful story about a real life Quaker Parrot named Cooka. Cooka is a pet bird of the author and she is missing wings, thus she is unable to fly. One day, through Mrs. Burggraaf's creative and imaginary mind, Cooka decides to leave her cage, venture outside and embark on a journey around her South Florida home. Along the way, Cooka encounters many dangers and makes many friends. Cooka: The Bird Without Wings is beautifully illustrated by award winning illustrator, Shaun Howard. This wonderful journey for children will introduce them to many animals and the South Florida environment. Children will meet Mr. Ringneck snake, Mr. Pig frog, Mr, Alligator, as well as owls, ants and an Ibis. The beautiful illustrations and the great story is appropriate for children from age 2 to 12.
