📖 Description
This hand-sewn chapbook is Jackson Lewis' first collection of tanka poetry. This collection gathers the best of his tanka including several published in Lynx, Atlas Poetica and Collage, the Millikin University literary magazine. Jackson writes in the modernist Japanese tanka tradition, especially following the spirit of masculine voices, such as Yosano Tekkan and his colleagues. In this collection he explores the dark side of imagination and related emotions, writing tanka of lost love, uncertain futures, distant family, and existential angst.
