Ubuntu 9.04 Server: Administration and Reference

This book is designed as an Ubuntu 9.04 server reference, covering the Ubuntu servers and their support applications. Server tools are covered as well as the underlying configuration files and system implementations. The emphasis is on what administrators will need to know to perform key server support and management tasks. Topics covered include software management, Upstart service management and runlevels, AppArmor security, and the Network Time Protocol. Key servers are examined, including Web, FTP, CUPS printing, Samba Windows shares, DHCP servers, the Domain Name System, Distributed Network File Systems, and an introduction to Cloud computer supported by Ubuntu. The book is organized into five parts: getting started, services, shared resources, network support, and shells. Both Ubuntu Server CD and Desktop CD installations are presented. Desktop server configuration and administration applications are also covered in detail, should you wish to use the desktop on your server.
