Ecclesiastes: A Spiritual Journey

Life is a journey fraught with delights, disappointments, and detours that take us back and forth over its ever changing route. The book of Ecclesiastes asks all the tough questions of life, of love, and of a loss of innocence, even as it avoids easy and simplistic answers to the wonderfully complex questions of life. Is this all there is? Why am I here? How can I be happy? What’s it all about? What is the nature of life under the sun? A famous American poet once said that life is a journey, not a destination, but Ecclesiastes points out that it involves both and that we can find joy in the journey, even as we remember that there is a goal and a final arrival that awaits us.
