Gaston & Lincoln Sketches

The North Carolina Piedmont counties of Gaston and Lincoln are places of deep history, diverse natural environment, and remarkable culture. Beginning with the Native American original inhabitants and continuing through the Revolutionary and antebellum periods, the first five essays in Gaston & Lincoln Sketches focus on particular historical episodes. The collection concludes with a description of molasses making and the survival of a rural folkway, and a short biography of Ralph Ray, Gastonia native and renowned illustrator and bird painter.
