Break Up My Water began taking shape in 2008 as poems, pieces of poems, prose bits, riffs, dream snippets, letters, and conversations exchanged by Blaster Al and Francis Poole. Poole would send Blaster Al a poem, prose fragment, or dream and if it resonated with Al, he would hack into the piece and add his own images and voice, steering the work in other directions. In turn, Poole would rewrite some of the things Blaster Al sent him. The result is often a kind of surrealism reminiscent of a William Burroughs--Bryon Gysin cutup but with a wacky sense of humor.
