A 34-page introduction graphically illustrates and explains the basic structure and history of the ancient Maya calendar, including the completion of its 13th bak'tun time cycle on December 21, 2012. Calendar pages synchronize ancient Maya and standard Gregorian calendar systems with Maya date glyphs for each day. Featured artwork presents photography of masterworks of Mesoamerican monumental sculpture depicting major rulers of the ancient Maya cities of Copán and Quirigua.
