Jennifer doesn't know he's hiding a diamond ring in the bedroom, and Denmond doesn't know she's really not cheating on him. Albeit uncomfortable at times, this detailed and nuanced portrayal of one night in the lives of two people is written with a kind of voyeuristic realism that will provoke a spectrum of responses-from shame and pity, to insight and laughter.
