The Early Life of Rama Krishna Dharmic Sabha Hindu Primary School

This booklet is dedicated to the students and teachers of the Rama Krishna Dharmic Sabha Hindu Primary School, both past and present. To the founding fathers who had the foresight to conceive the idea of building such a Hindu School in the Greater Georgetown area. They dreamingly saw the pressing need to fulfill the educational and religious aspirations of their Hindu Community; and for allowing the school to be opened to the wonderful teachers of all religious persuasions to serve in its educational delivery, unlike many of the Christian Denominational Schools at the time. To the late Dr. Cheddi Jagan, the country’s Premier at the time, whose political leadership fostered that pioneering Self-Effort, which blazed the trail of Self-Help, and which was the political philosophy that was projected by his government. That Self-Help Seed was to germinate and bloom into such an historic way and was to be witnessed by so many of us. To the officers of the Department of Education at the time, who played a major role in lending the necessary support to the birth of this first Hindu Primary School of its kind in Georgetown and its environs. To all the unsung heroes who have been connected in one way or another in helping to bring the idea from its abstract form to such an illuminating reality.
