Political Consciousness, in a broad, holistic context grounded by history, is needed to enable young African American men the ability to navigate 21st century American economic, cultural, and political terrain with insight and intellectual dexterity. Furthermore, attaining this insight and dexterity is viewed as a vehicle to empowerment. This book will outline the multifaceted aspects of what is required to be politically conscious around the issues of manhood, race, and legal history in a post-industrial, automated, technologically advanced world and why it is a prerequisite for African American manhood.
