It’s 2454 and Lieutenant Mary Jade Davidson barely survived the most devastating terrorist attack in Earth’s history. While the United Space Fleet is left to pick up the pieces, Internal Security – a shadowy intelligence agency – has their own agenda. They are sending Mary and the starship Essex out to look for aliens who may have visited Earth a thousand years ago. It seems like a fool’s errand, but when they actually encounter spacefaring aliens, it no longer seems foolish. Meanwhile, a second alien race shows up in humanity’s home system looking for an ancient super-weapon. When the Essex learns these two groups of aliens are already at war with each other, things suddenly get more complicated. The madman behind the terrorist attack is on the loose and two warring alien races have only the United Space Fleet, Internal Security, and Mary, standing between them and an ancient weapon that has the power to destroy stars.
