Seventy (70) years and upwards have passed since I first saw the light, and looked upon this green, carpeted earth, decorated with yellow, white, red and blue flowers, and I, s it were, enveloped in nature's envelope, and stamped with the governmental stamp of eternity. While the sun, looking down with that eye of fire all day until night steals along with a silent tread, and throws a dark curtain over a sleeping world all ornamented with a host of large and small stars, and the moon, the silver queen of night, with her borrowed light to cheer the mariner, while sailing over the mighty deep. While the winds are carrying the ships nearer and nearer to their destined ports, and we, being inspired with an immortal soul, attended with the faculty of the human mind and our five senses, hearing, and seeing surrounding objects, fields, hills, valleys, and the waters covering the channels of the mighty deep, as the residence of all the big and the little fishes of many kind, and fcr the birds of the air are pregnant with the dews and the rains to water this earth, for vegetation, also the lightning and the thunder wake our drowsy senses, and tell us that the Omnipotent, in the upper chamber is awake, and in His great work shop providing for all. Hence, then all of this universe is taxed: the sun, the atmosphere, the winds, clouds, waters, lightning, and thunder, all carry on His handiwork, increasing the productions of this earth, for whom it was erected, the work of an Almighty hand. This brings to mind what a vast obligation we are under to Him for all His benefits to the children of men.
