As a surprise, the alumni built for us a new fireplace in the back living room, and we are very much pleased with the improved appearance of the entire house. Furniture and rugs are next in line for replacement, and we expect the former to arrive in a very few weeks. The Athens Alumni Chapter meets with the active chapter on the first Thursday evening of each month and strong friendships as well as close cooperation are a part of the natural result. In February, the Mothers' and Sisters' Auxiliary descended upon us a banquet that cannot be soon forgotten, for we were treated to every good thing that anyone could desire. The Auxiliary has also furnished the windows in the downstairs rooms with handsome curtains and draperies, and further, we have been presented with a large set of splendid dishes from the same source. Ohio University won the Ohio Conference Basketball Championship in a very brilliant manner this year, and Beta Chapter was represented on the victorious team by "Ma" Burkett '23. His sensational shots from the middle of the floor did more than pile up the score for us in the final game; they brought the crowd to its feet with an enthusiasm that has been scarcely equalled in basketball contests at Ohio. Beta Chapter has produced seven new brothers in Deltaism this year. They are: Wilbur C. Henry of Amesville, brother of Ralph, and a good fellow; Franklin D. H. Carpenter, of Chicago, who has eighteen close relatives in the Fraternity, and whose father and grandfather, D. J. (Daddy) Evans '71, were initiated at this Chapter; Carl E.
