Trading during the past month has been limited almost entirely to local speculators, in the evaporated apple line. Our domestic markets have been buying a few small lots here and there as they have needed supplies, which makes it appear that they are carrying very light stocks, but even at the low prices ruling the past two months, they have not shown a willingness to stock up. Local speculators have been buyers of any good stock offered, paying from IjHs, 4-Mc early in the month up to 5j4c the past week, for prime in 50 It) boxes. Today practically everything is out of first hands, and the dealers have most of their holdings in cold storage. They are asking from 5% to 54c in storage for it, but there is practically no demand at these prices. Considerable business has been done on prime goods 1913 crop for fall shipment. Buyers have been willing to pay from $6.20 to $(i.30 f. o. b. for October-November or November-December and sellers have taken these prices, but not fast enough to bring any decline in prices.
