The original motive of the Author in undertaking this work was to furnish the members of his class with a system of Forensic Medicine, in which the several subjects should be arranged in the same order, and treated in the same way, as in his lectures.
This object has been kept in view in preparing the second edition for the press.
The no less important object of condensation has been attained by the abbreviation or omission of the greater number of the illustrative cases quoted in the first edition, and some of the tables, on which much labour had been expended. The references have also been curtailed, and author's names have been occasionally substituted for a ore exact reference to their works.
