This one is on "permanent park" by my son's bedside. The book is a poignant peek into the magical corner of every child's heart, the place where you want to believe that your toy is more than a toy but a friend to talk to and to care for. The illustrations are vibrant and compel you to turn the page--reflecting Mr. Ilagan's ample gifts in animation and story-telling. My son loves to "read" this book to me now. He tells me the action in every page and even know what emotions the characters are going through. His favorite scene is when Mama finds Baba and they hug--as much fun as Baba has in indulging in a deliciously laid-out tea table, his reunion with Mama after their brief separation (and unexpected tub bath) fills my child with relief and security, which is paralleled by Mia's reunion with her Teddy.
