Unfortunately during the working years it is sometimes difficult to truly appreciate them. The post-retirement years, on the other hand, can offer a bonanza of free time during which these noteworthy occurrences can be recalled. The author compiled a collection of the special events of his life — and found the results to be quite entertaining. This book is the gleaning of those remembrances — a series of anecdotes, all of which are based on actual happenings. A sampling of the stories includes a euphoric celebration in New Orleans in 1983 of Penn State’s victory in the Sugar Bowl over the University of Georgia, the care and feeding of a rattlesnake on the back patio of the family residence, and the pleasure of gliding over the beautiful countryside of England in a hot air balloon — a pleasure, that is, until the unorthodox landing.
