Weeds, Thorns and Flowers

This collection of poems, Weeds, Thorns and Flowers, embraces English adaptations of some poems previously published in Spanish, as well as some new ones. However, this entire book represents more recent work unlike his other collection, Shared Reflections of My Impressions, which contains poems written over a period covering more than thirty years. The broad background and perspective of this bilingual bi-cultural poet is seen through poems that transcend cultural boundaries. These poems deal with the spiritual aspect of life and death, human love, solitude, passion, and nature. The poet's love of gardening and nature is noticed from the very first poem; therefore, the analogy between humanity and plant life is found in some poems as the title vividly indicates. The style of this entire collection is free with an emphasis on content rather than a rhyme scheme, though precision and beauty is still present in all of these poems.
