Description
Are You Sure? Has the church grown to accept the reality that so many Christians are living a life falling far short of the abundant life that Christ speaks of? Why do so many who call themselves "Christian" say that they are unsure of whether they are going to heaven? * * * * * * * It is one thing that Christians are defeated in their everyday life and lacking joy, peace, and purpose but when the world looks on they can rightfully question the reality of Christ's words, "I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly." This is God's promise that life can be lived eternally in its quantity and abundantly in its quality. * * * * * * * WHY? Why aren't more who have claimed to have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior experiencing this abundant and fruitful life? If they have sincerely accepted the gift of God's salvation in Jesus Christ, why do so many lack assurance of the Lord's promise? * * * * * * * The author believes that the reason lies in the lack of understanding of God's grace or salvation by faith and the resulting absence of security in the possession of that gift. He believes that "without a true understanding of God's plan of salvation there can be little or no assurance and without that assurance there can be little or no experience of the abundance of life Jesus speaks of." He also raises the question of what a person truly understands about their own salvation if they are not sure of the issues of Christian Security and Assurance. What do they understand to be the basis of their salvation?
