Scaling New Heights

God blessed ancient Israel because they obeyed him. When they sinned and sacrificed their children to idols, he sent them into captivity and let Babylon burn Jerusalem to the ground. Seventy years later, God led a remnant back to Judah to rebuild his temple. They built homes for themselves instead. Haggai the prophet told them that their selfish attitude caused God to withhold His blessings. When they began building the temple, God blessed them. Haggai prophesied, “The glory of this present house will be greater than the former.” This prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus ministered in the temple 520 years later. Haggai then prophesied of the coming Tribulation when God will shake the heavens and earth and shatter the powers of foreign nations. This should be a wake-up call to all of us.
