The Gods of Canaan

When Asherah, goddess of the early Israelites, learns a book is to be written that will change the world, she chooses Rebe'kah, a young nomad, to become storyteller and seeress. The Gods of Canaan recounts Rebe'kah's treacherous journey from a simple nomadic life to the court of King David where she narrates the tales that become the Bible. It is also the story of Ben who rescues Rebe'kah when they are children leading to an enduring bond that grows into a lifelong love. Ben befriends the young David when he comes to King Saul's court and serves him throughout David's rise to the kingship of all the Israelites.
