Winifred Burren, a Professor of English, leads a literary tour of England. After a series of disturbing incidents, one of the participants has a fatal accident at the the Black Bull in Haworth, and Dr. Burren suspects murder. While continuing her lectures, she has to solve the mystery, enlisting the services of her husband in the process. The book blends literary insights with locales associated with Wordsworth, the Brontes and Virginia Woolf.
