In this book, Doulay. tells the story of her difficult childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, when a series of rejections and abandonments by the most important people in her life (particularly men) instilled in her a sense of low self-worth that drove her toward drugs, alcohol, mental illness, and a variety of abusive and destructive relationships. By sharing her personal story, she seeks to encourage readers who may have found themselves traveling on similarly painful roads through life to place their trust in God to guide their paths, as she herself finally has been able to do. Through her faith, she has found a sense of inner peace, which enables her to endure all of the adversity that she has already experienced and that she and her family may face in the future.
